Remember sentence diagramming?

I incorporate sentence diagramming into my process every time I record, without even thinking about it. By now, it’s second nature. My brain instinctively breaks down the copy, and I see how the copy plays out before I speak.

As a visual learner, it helps with cold reading, the ability to pivot while being directed, and the aptitude to provide multiple options. It gives me a deeper understanding of the material, no matter the voiceover genre—whether it’s promo, commercial, audio description, narration or dubbing.

While it seems to have been a fad of the past, for me it’s a priceless and very current tool.

Here’s a detailed explanation of how it works: https://www.grammarly.com/blog/sentences/sentence-diagramming/

And a great cheat sheet on which to practice: https://www.englishworksheetsland.com/topics/1/diagraming/5tearit.pdf

Give it a go if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot!
